Quaker Campus 2009-2010 Advertising Guide


The Whittier College market is a very profitable one! More than $40 million in expenditures in the area per year are due directly to the existence of Whittier College.

Whittier has 1,300 undergraduate students and 250 full time faculty and staff, direct student expenditures are approximately $2 million annually. According to research conducted at UCLA, college newspapers are ranked first as the medium which most often stimulates a purchase by college students.

About the Paper

  • Published *every Thursday (see schedule attached)
  • Distribution of 1200 on and off campus
  • Member of the Associated Collegiate Press and the Columbia Scholastic Press
  • Whittier College is a private liberal arts college located 18 miles east of Los Angeles in Whittier, California.


    Mechanics

  • The Quaker Campus is a tabloid-size paper (11 3/8 in. x 17 in.).
  • Five two inch (11.5 picas) wide columns per page.
  • 80 column inches per page.
  • Minimum display space is four column inches.
  • Each issue of the Quaker Campus has spot color on two pages.

    Cancellations

  • All advertisement changes and cancellations must be made before the advertising deadline, which is 5:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the publication date.
  • No refunds will be given on advertisements cancelled after the deadline.
  • All cancelled advertisements are subject to a $10 service charge to cover handling and production of the advertisement.


    Miscellaneous

  • Paid political advertisements and advertisements having the appearance of editorial material will be identified a ?Paid Advertisement.?
  • All advertisements must carry identification of the sponsor or sponsoring organizations.
  • Mail order advertisements must include a street address.
  • Advertiser and/or agent assume liability for advertisements published (including illustrations, text, claims, etc.) and agrees to assume any and all responsibility for claims occurring thereafter against the Quaker Campus.

    Placement

    Placement is neither sold nor guaranteed, but requests for specific page placement are honored whenever possible.

    All advertisements must be received by the Quaker Campus prior to 5:00 p.m. on Monday the week of publication.

    Rate Information

  • Advertisers without a bulk contract will be charged at local rates. A contract must be signed with the Quaker Campus to receive a bulk discount.
  • Advertisers must fulfill the contracted bulk space within the contracted period unless their advertising is terminated by the Quaker Campus. Advertisers failing to fulfill their contract must pay the difference between their contracted rate and the open local rate for advertisements run during their contracted period.
  • Advertising agencies working for national advertisers will be charged the national rate. These charges are commissionable. Bulk discounts may be applied.
  • Advertising agencies working for local or regional advertisers will be charged at local rates. These charges are not commissionable.
